Many There Be

Matthew 7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Many are more than few. Are you aware that most of the individuals you encounter are on their way to a place of eternal torments or is your head in the sand? Even if we didn*t have this passage in the Bible we ought to know this truth from the behavior of those around us.

Luke 13:24: Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

The many who shall not be able to enter at the strait gate will be unable because they were first unwilling. They were unwilling until it was too late.

Proverbs 29:1: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Mark 6:34: And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

Sheep not having a shepherd cannot find water, food or shelter and they cannot protect themselves. They are in a desperate condition. Jesus had compassion on them. Do you? You might ask what you can do about it. You can notice and remember that they are lost. You can pray for them. You can pray that the Lord will send others to share the gospel with them. You can have compassion on them and teach them what they need to know, that they are lost. If that doesn*t work you might try to scare the daylights out of them.

Jude 1:22: And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

You can live an honest life among them and be the example before them that God wants you to be.

1 Peter 2:12: Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

1 Timothy 4:16: Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Romans 11:14: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

Luke 10:2: Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Even if you cannot do all of the above things, you CAN do whatever the Lord wants you to do. We cannot always do what we want but we can ALWAYS do what He wants. He enables us. We CAN pray for the lost. We CAN regularly attend a church that does those things. We CAN support those who do those things in prayer and financially. And He has already planned your good works for you. So get going.

Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Isaiah 41:10: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
